Level B1: Intermediate

At Level B1, learners have successfully transitioned from basic language usage to a more intermediate level. They are capable of understanding and expressing themselves in a variety of familiar situations.

Key Skills:

• Communication: Can deal with most situations likely to arise while traveling. They can describe experiences, events, dreams, and ambitions, and provide reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.
• Understanding: Capable of understanding the main points of clear, standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc.
• Speaking: Able to produce simple connected text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest.
• Writing: Can write simple texts on topics which are familiar or of personal interest. This includes personal letters describing experiences and impressions.

Typical Curriculum Content:

• More complex grammatical structures and tenses.
• Expanded vocabulary to include a broader range of topics.
• Enhanced reading and listening comprehension skills.
• More nuanced speaking and writing, including expressing opinions and discussing plans.
