Course Content
The students after this course will know how to express in Polish the following notions and functions:
See programme for A0 - Beginners and Upper-Beginners and Improvers plus;-
expressing time relations in the past;
talking about free time and sport;
expressing one's opinion and preferences;
talking about Polish traditions and comparing them to those of student’s culture;
talking about job and problems at the workplace;
asking for help and giving advice in the job environment;
expressing official and unofficial wishes;
asking for and giving information;
expressing likes and dislikes;
creating short formal speeches;
writing short formal letters.
The set of notions and functions will be taught and practiced within the following subjects:
Biograhpy - sport - science - job trainings - memory - holidays and traditions - company's structure - office
The students will learn and revise the following aspects of Polish grammar:
gerund;
genitive, accusative, instrumental in the function of a direct object (uczyc sie, zajmowac sie, interesowac sie, etc.);
dative in ‘zycze’ structure;
foreign words in Polish.
Course objectives
Polish for Upper-Improvers is designed for those who have some previous knowledge of Polish (after around 60 hrs of a course).
It covers the basic grammar structures and introduces basic vocabulary necessary in everyday situations. It also presents a summarised introduction to Polish culture, traditions and Poland as it is today.
The course is based on the textbook "Po polsku 1" by M. Malolepsza & A. Szymkiewicz and includes a wide range of vocabulary and a thorough study of grammar, as well as some useful information on Poland and its culture.
