    Course Content
    The students after this course will know how to express in Polish the following notions and functions:
  • talking about present, past and future;
  • talking about health;
  • giving advice;
  • talking about free time and sport;
  • talking about Polish traditions and comparing them to those of student’s culture;
  • talking about job and problems at the workplace;
  • asking for help and giving advice in the job environment;
  • creating short formal speeches;
  • writing short formal letters.
  • The set of notions and functions will be taught and practiced within the following subjects:
    Health and health problems – parts of the body – biography – sport – education (courses, memory, the process of learning) – tradition – Christmas, Easter, name’s days and other days important in Poland – enterprise – office – computer

    The students will learn and revise the following aspects of Polish grammar:
  • adverbs v. adjectives;
  • ‘boli mnie’ structure;
  • imperfective and perfective verbs in present, past and future tense;
  • gerund;
  • genitive, accusative, instrumental in the function of a direct object (uczyć się, zajmować się, interesować się, etc.);
  • dative in ‘życzę’ structure;
  • foreign words in Polish.
    Course objectives
    This course is predicted for students with some knowledge of Polish who had taken at least 50 hours of Polish or those who would like to revise their knowledge.
      The course is based on the textbook "Po polsku 2" by A. Burkat & A. Jasinska and includes a wide range of vocabulary and a thorough study of grammar, as well as some useful information on Poland and its culture.
